Case Study
Studio systems engineering for multi-city podcast studios.
When a news and current affairs client recognized the need to increase its content publishing on digital platforms, podcasts and vodcasts are a natural growth engine. A London studio build allowed more sharing on topics including economics, business, geopolitics, technology and culture. The expanded effort to bring multiple pod/vodcast studios online in North America and APAC allow for global perspectives to be shared as their digital presence grows.

The Challenge.
The actual design and infrastructure of spaces plays an important role in how content is produced and distributed. Our clients often have very capable facilities partners, but the uniqueness of audio and video production requires niche engineering. Design and installation of audio and video systems, detailed specs of cabling infrastructure, space lighting and electrical are all considerations as to how much content can be captured and created within and beyond the four walls of a space.

What we did.
It started in designing and building a bespoke live stream suite including a podcast studio, edit suite, and vision mixing control room—all within an iconic building in the heart of the city. The project started as a space challenge, solved by transforming and reconfiguring meeting rooms into fully equipped studios and control rooms. There are also careful budget parameters - how to make the most with a modest investment without over-engineering the space. The result is a broadcast hub now used for live streams, pre-records, green screen productions, and photography, complete with a custom infinity cove. Our design and infrastructure approach leverages a refined template to ensure consistency across global markets, facilitating a seamless expansion into localized broadcasting environments. We are actively finalizing the technical specifications and engineering for additional studios within this multi-city network.
Outcomes.
Dynamic expansion
Moving beyond a single room recording setup, the addition of multiple up and downstream feeds facilitate routing, switching, monitoring, redundancy, intercom, IFB/talkback, ISO recording, confidence monitoring, and live broadcast capability.
Global connectivity
Working across geos, content can be produced in a 24/7 production cycle, maximizing guests who may be in any region, and remote support from any location.
