The Challenge.

Capturing commercial content at the Olympic Games as a major sponsor is a high stakes balancing act where traditional production strategies fail. For senior production leaders used to handpicking specialized, freelance crews and choosing custom gear, the Olympic Broadcasting Services model strips away that creative control.

Not only are there creative constraints, but huge operational ones as well. Producers must navigate intense security screenings, highly restricted venue access, and crowds of hundreds of thousands of daily spectators. There are also strict and complex International Olympic Committee (IOC) guidelines that must be followed. For us at TeamPeople the challenge was clear, how can we guarantee brand compliance and match the pre-established visual aesthetics with limited control on the key production aspects?

What we did.

The solution relied entirely on meticulous pre production and structured communication. Long before touching down in Paris, we spent hours collaborating with agency partners, internal marketing teams, and the IOC to put together a "Look of the Games Guide". This comprehensive rulebook aligned the many stakeholders on layout options, logo spacing, and clear sponsor categories, and was fully vetted through the official IOC Track tool to guarantee absolute compliance before live production began. To mitigate onsite time pressures, we engineered pre-approved design and motion templates, allowing the post-production team to rapidly deploy real time content.

On the ground, we visited all the key sites before the official start of the Games. Mapping out entry and exit points, securing early rapport with Venue Managers, and creating detailed shot lists including location photographs and filming points, which allowed us to understand the environments and set clear expectations for our assigned OBS crews. Rather than fighting the rigid structure, we welcomed the OBS teams into our creative vision. We fostered a culture built on open communication, mutual respect, and precise daily objectives, ensuring that we truly became one team and the crew understood and championed our brand’s narrative goals.
